Seize The Day
Yesterday I heard that a good friend has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She is having surgery and should be fine, however, I'm reminded once again that we must live each day as if it's our last.
What did you do today? Was it a day you are happy with? Did you do one thing that made your life seem worthwhile, joyful or meaningful?
Today, I spent most of the day doing laundry; cleaning, doing a spin class, cooking dinner and putting up the Christmas tree. These things were useful and helpful, but there was nothing creative or new that happened. It was just a typical day of work in the home.
In the middle of the day my son Ben and I took time out to meet my mother in law for lunch. In the midst of lots of responsibilities and the feeling that there is never enough time to get all the jobs done, we decided to spend time with someone we love.
I think that's what is meant by seizing the day. To not just treat each day as list of tasks to achieve but look at we can create moments for people; creative pursuits, adventures and serving others.
May you live all the days of your
life. ~Jonathan Swift
